PostSubject: Flashlight tricks   Sat Aug 21, 2010 10:09 pm

I've found out some cool thinks and thought that I'll share. First, if you type in console "r_flashlightlockposition 1" you will be able to spawn/unattach flashlight, which crates te same effect, like the env_projectedtexture in hammer editor, but witchout hammer editor Wink, just realtime. With additional commands like "r_flashlightfar x", "r_flashlightfov x", you will be able to create some cool effects. Here are few examples:

But that's not all! It's just for fun, so you will probably get bored after few minutes. Then, you need to try second trick. If you have L4D or L4D2, you can get the same flashlight texture for any other orange box games (of course that will not make flashlight attached to weapons) ! Since I have only L4D, I'll show you example on it. Texture mentioned before is located in #YourSteamLocation#\SteamApps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\Pak01_dir.vpk (You need GCFExplorer to open it), in Materials\effects and it's called flashlight001.vtf . Now all you have to do, is copy this texture into the same folder (create it if not exist) of any other orange box game. Now you should see somethink like this:

It doesn't look as good, as in L4D, because of lighting, flashlight attached to guns, new textures and many other aspects BUT personly I think It look WAY more realistic(if only smod:t would be on orange box engine...Crying or Very sad ).

That's all, I hope that's somebody have fun with it and learned somethink.
